Better Start than Last Year
June 2009

The Red Sox are doing even better than they were at this time last year. And they almost made it to the Series then, so you can imagine what their chances this year might be. This is a strong team that seems to have gotten past the early injury problems and has also found a lot of different ways to score runs everyday. Their pitching is also quite impressive. One commentator has described the situation in the AL East as similar to being behind the leader of an auto race. The air behind them seems heavier and more loaded with fumes. Thus it is harder to catch up. This seems to be what the Yankees are feeling right now, because they are slipping further behind with each passing day.
