Lowell played host to “Mike Lowell’s Dancing with the All Stars” fund raising dance program and the entire event was sponsored by the Red Sox owner, John Henry, the CEO Larry, chairman Tom Werner and his team partner’s to honor the effort of their team man Mile Lowell.
Lowell and his wife Bertha started this foundation in 2001 and through this foundation he was able to bring in some life to the cancer affected children in Miami and Boston. Since, Lowell was able to fight the testicular cancer in him, he felt that he should do something for the poor children who are affected by cancer and thus started the foundation. Red Sox players like Alex Cora, Dustin Pedoria and Jonathan Papelbon along with Lowell were paired with professional dancers who taught these players some salsa steps. Live auctions were conducted and all the funds that were raised through the evening will go to the Lowell’s foundation.
